Hey everyone, a few quick updates to let you know what we have rolled out this week.

  • RSS feed links are now all over the place. Look for this little icon (RSS Feeds) which now shows on the front page as well as the take page, and all of the category pages, making it easy for you to subscribe to your favorite Quibblo content. Not familiar with RSS? Check out this great intro and see how awesome it can be!
  • Email notifications will now come to the email address tied to your Quibblo account, whenever you have a new message or friend request, so that you never fall behind on cultivating your Quibblo network and relationships. Haven’t logged in to check your messages lately? Now would be a good time to do so.
  • You can now tag other people’s Quibblets, and not just your own. If you are logged in, look for the “add a tag” link underneath the tag set on any Quibblet, and add your own tags if you like. Help make all of the Quibblets easier to find and more accurately tagged.

That’s all for now, but lots more happening already, and we should have some more cool stuff to launch in the next few weeks. For now, check out the Harry Potter vs Star Wars battle that is getting heated!

Great news for all of you facebook users out there. Quibblo has just released a super cool facebook application, called Photo Voting!

This little application grabs photos from your album, and puts them into a slick little poll, that allows your friends to vote on the pics that they like best. To see an example, scroll about 2/3 down the page on the Quibblo facebook profile, and see the Photo Voting application in action.

The application is easy to add, and a lot of fun for both you and your friends, so log into your facebook account and add Photo Voting now!

This is one of those little enhancements that may not be a show stopper in size and scope, but it is something simple that we feel really adds a lot of value to the Quibblo experience for bloggers.

If you are an avid blogger (or even a casual blogger), you are likely familiar with the trackback process, which in simple terms, is sort of like a digital tip of the cap, where one site acknowledges that another has referenced it, by posting a link from the originating content, to the referencing post. Wikipedia describes a trackback in the following way:

A Trackback is an acknowledgment. This acknowledgment is sent via a network signal (ping) from the originating site to the receiving site. The receptor often publishes a link back to the originator indicating its worthiness. (more here)

So now, whenever you post a link to your favorite Quibblet on your blog, be sure and grab the trackback link from the Quibblet embed page, and add it to the trackback field in your blog software. Just like when you send trackbacks to other blogs, a link back to your site will then show beneath the corresponding quiz results right on Quibblo.com, giving you that digital tip of the cap for linking to us, as well as sending some of our Quibblo users your way!

We hope you enjoy this new feature, and as always, give us a shout if you have any problems, questions, or suggestions.

Some pretty awesome enhancements to tell everyone about this morning, as we have added three big features to the site that we think you are going to love.

  1. Profile Images - No more anonymous, one-dimensional, orange Quibblo icon representing your Quibblo identity (along with everyone else’s). Now you can add a real photo of yourself to your Quibblo profile and show off that lovely mug next to your list of recently taken and created Qubblets. Uploading is a snap, just go to your profile, and look for the “Change your profile image” link under the orange Quibblo man. The rest should be pretty straightforward. And hey, while you are in there, why not update your whole profile and tell everyone a bit about who you really are!
  2. Friends - Since Quibblo launched, one of the things we really felt that we were missing, was a way for users to find other users that shared similar tastes in Quibblets, and allow them to connect. Friends and friends lists may not be anything revolutionary, but we thought it had a place within the Quibblo network, so we went ahead and added this functionality. Adding new friends is super easy. Click on any username (look for the “created by” line atop any quiz), and then click the “send friend request” link at the top right of their profile page. If they accept your invitation, you will be Quibblo friends!
  3. Messages - Now that you have spiffy photo uploaded, and some new friends, why not send them some messages and tell them how much you love their Quibblets? Just like adding friends, sending messages is super easy. Just click that “send message link” at the top right of any user profile.

That’s all for now, but as always, stay tuned…lots more coming!

  • Better Mature Content Warnings - The warning page that you may have seen in the past for mature content, was…well, it was awful and confusing. We have prettied up this page and made it much easier to understand and interact with should you get hit with this page.
  • Question and Answer Randomization - One thing that has bugged us in the past, is going through and mixing up the answers to personality test questions, so that it wasn’t obvious which answer tied to which personality. Varying the answers to mask the outcome was tedious and frustrating. Well, consider this issue solved. When creating a Quibblet, you will now see check boxes for randomizing your questions and for randomizing your answers. Hopefully this will allow you to create long and fun Quibblets, and not worry about mixing up the content…just one check box does all of the work now!
  • Better Selection On Front Page - We made some changes to the way we select recently popular and top rated content, so hopefully these lists will be fresher and more interesting each time you come to the site. We aren’t going to reveal the secret sauce, but we hope that you notice an improvement in these lists.

We aren’t done yet, some of our biggest changes coming later today, so check back in a bit for some super cool enhancements and feature adds!

As you may have noticed, there is a new term that recently sprung up around Quibblo…and you also may have thought “What the heck does that mean?”. Well, wonder no more…

Quibblet [kwib-lit] noun, plural quibb-lets

  1. a universal term for content created on Quibblo.com
  2. a poll, quiz, survey, or personality test on Quibblo.com

Sam created two quibblets on Quibblo.com; one personality test to send to his friends, and one poll to post on his blog.

It may be the Monday morning of a summer holiday week, but here at Quibblo, we are still hard at work, constantly improving the best quiz site on the web! And what is it that we have been so hard at work on? Well, as you may have noticed, Quibblo.com is looking quite a bit different this morning, as we have just rolled over a slick and streamlined new look for the site. This first major style upgrade since our launch this winter involved lots of code cleaning, graphics tweaking, and general testing to bring you a slimmer, lighter, and hopefully a bit easier to use Quibblo…and now it is ready to be released to the world!

Take a look around, let us know what you think. Oh, and as always, don’t be shy about letting us know where we may have missed crossing a “t” or dotting an “i”, as your help and feedback is crucial to Quibblo’s development.

Overall we think this new look and layout is a big improvement and we hope you think so to. But, as always, we never rest on our laurels as there always more work to be done. As soon as the paint is dry on this version, we begin sketching out changes for another upgrade, so look for lots of cool features to pop up throughout the summer.

Now….you guessed it, go take a quiz!

Did you know that you can add ANY Quibblo poll to your blog, website, or MySpace profile with just a few clicks? It’s super easy, and a great way to add content to your pages, and to get your visitors participating actively on your site. Look for the “Share This Poll” section at the top right of any poll or poll results page, and you will see an “add to my site” link:

Click that link, customize the colors to match your site, and grab the code to paste into your page…easy peasy!

Here are some of our favorite bloggers out there who are currently embedding Quibblo polls in their sites, so click on through to see how the final product looks:

  • Punky Style - A fun fashion blog with some fun fashion polls.
  • OliverMichael - Personally, we think he looks like Vin Diesel.
  • OCWrestling - Weigh in on an intense wrestling poll.
  • Nancy Nall - Has a great “Ode To Billie Joe”.
  • Krankipantzen - With a somewhat indescribable cat/telletubby poll.
  • Babeless - Has a “what’s cookin’” poll on her blog.
  • The Cyclist - Has a quick survey about…well, about cycling!

If you are using a Quibblo poll on your website and want everyone to see, post a note and a link in the comments, and we will be back soon highlighting some more of our favorite Quibblo embedders!
